NEW YORK (PIX11) — Qualified New Yorkers have begun receiving their inflation refund checks in the mail this month.
But what if yours gets lost in the mail, or your dog ripped it up? Does a replacement get sent to you?
The Department of Taxation and Finance has a policy specifically for those kinds of scenarios. If you haven't received your refund check, or it was stolen, destroyed, or is uncashed, here's what you need to do:
Lost, stolen, or destroyed checks
If your inflation check wasn't cashed before being lost, stolen or destroyed, you need to contact the Personal Income Tax Information Center. Call the number 518-457-5181 with a copy of your most recently filed tax return in hand.
Uncashed checks
If you do have your check but forgot to cash it, simply cash it at your earliest co
