DENVER (KDVR) -- A Castle Rock man was found guilty on multiple charges for hitting his landlord over the head with a 2x4 piece of wood.

Daniel Fougner, 65, was found guilty by a jury on Friday of felony assault on an at-risk person and felony tampering with physical evidence.

Last October, Fougner was temporarily staying in 80-year-old Richard Wright's home in Parker when the two had a dispute over money that Fougner owed.

They were outside of the home when Fougner grabbed a 2x4 piece of wood and hit Wright in the head twice, according to a press release from the 23rd Judicial District Attorney's Office.

The impacts caused a subdural hematoma, a brain bleed, which a medical expert testified during trial that it posed a "substantial risk of death," according to the release.
