CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( WBTV /Gray News) - The CEO of LendingTree was killed in an ATV accident over the weekend.

The Charlotte-based financial company confirmed in a news release Monday that its chairman and CEO, Doug Lebda, died Sunday.

Lebda founded LendingTree in 1996, and will be succeeded as CEO by COO and president Scott Peyree, with Steve Ozonian set to take over as chairman of the board.
