Newark officials are calling on federal agencies to hold the responsible polluters of the Passaic River accountable for the more-than-40-year-old Diamond Alkali Superfund site saga.
The Newark City Council adopted a resolution supporting the remediation of the Diamond Alkali Superfund site at its Oct. 7 special meeting.
The Diamond Alkali Superfund site includes the former manufacturing facility at 80–120 Lister Ave. in Newark. It is part of the Lower Passaic River Study Area (LPRSA), and the Newark Bay Study Area, both of which are other components of the massive cleanup that continues to be discussed.
