NEW BRITAIN, Conn. ( WFSB /Gray News) - A mother and the aunt of a 12-year-old girl whose remains were found inside a container near an abandoned home have been arrested, according to authorities.

City officials announced the girl’s mother, Karla Garcia, and the mother’s sister, Jackelyn Garcia, have been arrested in the death of Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres.

Karla Garcia has been arrested and charged with murder, while her sister has been charged with cruelty to persons.

An arrest warrant for murder and tampering with evidence is also out for Karla Garcia’s boyfriend, Jonatan Anita, who has not been located. Police are asking for help locating Anita.
