BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. (WCAX) - A Bellows Falls train station is at the center of the town of Rockingham’s long-term revitalization plan. It’s designed to grow what is currently a shrinking population and the entire downtown corridor.
Rockingham bought the old train station back in March. Renovation work has begun.
As workers shore up the exterior of the Bellows Falls Amtrak station, shoppers and tourists roam Main Street just a few blocks away.
Mark Beckstein, a western New York native, visits the area every year.
“We came here antiquing, and we also have taken the train ride for several years,” Beckstein said.
But the 100-year-old train station is showing its age.
