GEORGETOWN, Colo. (KKTV) - Snowmaking is officially underway at Loveland Ski Area!
According to the ski area, the snow guns were fired up for the first time this season on Monday around midnight.
The ski area says they are ahead of schedule compared to last year. In 2024, snowmaking reportedly began on Oct. 18, five days later.
They said the cold overnight temperatures made for ideal snowmaking conditions, and the team took full advantage of the opportunity.
Loveland traditionally opens between late October and early November, depending on progress and conditions.
Last season, Loveland opened on November 9, 2024, and the team says they project for the ski area to open even earlier this fall.
