SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Peggy Coddens is taking extra precautions to avoid consuming PFAS.
“I wash all my produce, lettuce, anything with the filtered water,” Coddens says. “I’m not a scientist, but I know they’re harmful. And I don’t buy certain products like stain-proof things, waterproof things, Teflon, non-stick things, because they all contain the PFAS.”
She says after she saw our initial report on WNDU 16 News Now about the PFAS being detected in South Bend’s water , she and her husband installed a reverse osmosis system under their sink.
“You hook up the T-connection and that’s the tube that feeds the cold water up through your filter and then up into this faucet,” Coddens explains.
