EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - The LST-325 recently returned to Evansville’s riverfront.

The World War II ship went on a month-long fall cruise, making stops at port cities on the river system.

This is done to educate people on the history of the ship, as well as raise money to preserve it.

“That’s our main fundraiser. That’s critical to our business model here. Without that we would be hurting,” says Chris Donahue, LST-325 Executive Director.

Officials tell us that the ship returned with around half a million dollars from this latest voyage.

“It wasn’t a great sum of them, but it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t quite as great as we’d hope it would be, but you never know till you go and do it,” Donahue said.
