The Mississippi State Fire Academy has been awarded nearly $430,000 for a mobile facility designed to help train first responders.

The funding was made available through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Officials say the money will help meet the growing needs of fire departments, non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations, and state training facilities.

“This funding allows us to implement an integrated mobile training system, featuring appliances, hoses, nozzles, and pump simulators to deliver high-impact, hands-on training programs to firefighters across the state,” Mississippi State Fire Academy executive director Kelly Elliott said.
