ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (WJW) – With no end to the government shutdown in sight, one local restaurant is stepping up to ease the strain on furloughed or laid-off federal workers.
Bearden’s is giving away one free burger to each government employee experiencing hardship.
“Any employee that’s furloughed or laid off can come into Bearden’s once a day and get a free burger for as many days as they need to until the government shutdown is over,” Bearden’s Director of Operations Stephen Storch said.
Storch said all someone needs to receive the free sandwich is a valid government ID, but there is a limit of one per government employee per day.
Storch said 13 days into the shutdown, many families are starting to feel the pressure. He hopes this promotion shows someone cares about what’s happening.
