Gratitude filled more than dinner tables this Thanksgiving, with Londoners giving more than they did last year to the London Food Bank’s fall collection drive.

In total, Londoners donated an estimated 53,936 kilograms (118,658 pounds) of food and $131,000 in cash. The drive wrapped up Monday, with final figures to be confirmed Tuesday and Western University ’s Ivey business school’s not-yet-collected haul expected to add a fair bit more.

There was no target for this year’s effort – which focused on hunger among children and youth – but officials expect it to eclipse 2024’s results, 54,758 kilograms of food, including $154,278 in cash.

The result reflects London’s “collective ability to not only look out for others, but to be grateful,” said food bank co-executive director Glen Pearson
