PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Boys and Girls Club of Pharr-San Juan is kicking off its 'Healthy Families for a Brighter Future' program this week.

The program aims to address childhood obesity and promote wellness.

The 'Healthy Families for a Brighter Future' initiative is a year-round, community-centered program that will be implemented through the organization's AmeriCorps program.

"AmeriCorps members will deliver the program by leading nutrition education sessions every day for our club members, providing health and fitness activities, parent workshops, and community-wide health awareness events," said Boys and Girls Club of Pharr-San Juan CEO Alfredo Mata Jr.
