INDIANAPOLIS — Halloween is a little more than two weeks away, and three out of four people say they plan to celebrate the holiday.

That participation is expected to translate into record spending this year, according to a National Retail Federation survey .

The total? $13.1 billion, which breaks down to about $114 per person.

The NRF said the number is up from $11.6 billion last year and exceeds the previous $12.2 billion record set in 2023.

The top spending category is costumes at $4.3 billion. Decorations come in a close second at $4.2 billion.

Candy spending is expected to reach $3.9 billion and greeting cards around $700 million.
