The rush is on for Phoenix-area homeowners to get battery systems for their rooftop solar before a federal tax credit runs out at end of the year.
The credits expire Dec. 31 — an outcome of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act pass by Congress over the summer — so customers are making a last push to get solar units retrofitted with battery packs to retain some of the power they are generating and receive 30% back on the system purchase price.
Batteries have become more popular in recent years as homeowners who have solar realize the dynamics of what once was a viable option to power their home are changing because utility companies have altered what they are paying for electricity.
