COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Former Columbus City Manager Isaiah Hugley officially announced his candidacy for mayor Monday, nearly five months after being terminated from his position by the city council.
Hugley made his announcement at a packed event, declaring his focus on unity and community needs if elected as Columbus’ next mayor.
“With great humility, and unwavering hope, I officially declare my candidacy to be the next mayor of Columbus Georgia,” Hugley said during his campaign launch.

The Columbus City Council voted 7-3 to terminate Hugley from his city manager position on May 27. Council members cited ongoing issues within the departments he oversaw and demonstrated a lack of leadership as reasons for his dismissal.
