YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A video that was recently posted on Instagram earlier this month shows people "base jumping" off the El Capitan summit in Yosemite, an action that is prohibited in national parks.

The video, which was recently posted by Bigwalltrailrunner on Instagram, shows multiple people with parachutes using natural landscapes to give them a boost.

Base jumping is a recreational sport of jumping from fixed objects like artificial structures and natural features, using a parachute to descend to the ground.

This action is illegal in national parks, including Yosemite, which spends $67,764 a year to prevent base jumpers from accessing the park, according to Baseaccess.org.
