ITHACA, N.Y. (WENY) — As many people across the country celebrate Columbus Day, others are also celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day. To celebrate, one business in Ithaca held a live music event to honor Indigenous cultures.

"It's important to be able to educate," said performer Arvel Bird. "Make people aware of the stories. And we're involved with healing wounds and issues of the past as well as the present."

It was standing room only at South Hill Cider in Ithaca as people listened to the songs and stories of Arvel Bird. Bird is a Celtic-Indian performer who combines the tunes of native music and several other genres. He describes his music as something you've never heard before.
