REED CITY — The Reed City Area District Library is preparing to host its annual silent auction fundraiser, an event that helps support the library’s ongoing initiatives.

This year’s proceeds will go toward upgrading the library’s furniture. Organizers say the fundraiser depends heavily on community participation, with local businesses and residents encouraged to contribute by donating themed baskets or making direct financial gifts.

“Every year we get anywhere from 20 to 30 baskets, and then we have a table set up throughout the library for two weeks, and any individual can come in and bid on them,” a library representative said. “Libraries are so much more than just books.
