SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City area is close to beating its own record for the rainiest October after receiving a whole lot of rain within the last two weeks.
According to National Weather Service Meteorologist Sam Webber, Salt Lake City received 3.48 inches of rain from Oct. 1 through Oct. 13. That’s more than seven times the average amount of water usually received during that timeframe.
This is also the seventh wettest October on record for the city, and it’s only .43 inches shy of Salt Lake City’s all-time wettest October recorded, which was in 1981.
Webber told KSL NewsRadio there is a good chance the Salt Lake area will break that 44-year-old record this week.
“We’re already almost eight times the normal amount of rain for October, which is .44 inches,” Webber said.
