Excessive rain moving east from hurricane Priscilla has created damage of trees, vehicles and even electrical poles that fell after a recorded 80 miles per hour wind.

As of 5 p.m. on Oct. 13, there were at least three electrical lines down due to damage, according to the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center, leaving thousands in the Tempe and Chandler areas along Kyrene Road without power.

For those without electricity, the Escalante, Westside and North Tempe Community centers are open until 9 p.m. for those in need of shelter.

Flash floods are often quick and can be deadly. Tempe encourages drivers to never drive through flood waters and to call for help immediately in the case of an emergency.
