DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) -- The ball was in the community's court on Monday. Many gathered at a Decatur community center to celebrate the unveiling of a new basketball court.
The Old King's Orchard Community Center has helped troubled youth get on the right path for more than twenty years. The group's director, Devon Joyner, said he hopes their new court serves as a neighborhood safe space.
“It's community development at its best and doing everything we can to make this community a better place,” Joyner said.
The students of the center’s program were honored with cutting the ribbon. The community center heavily focuses on reducing violent crime in the area.
