SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - One of the top crime-fighting organizations in the area says less violent crime in Birmingham means more opportunities to help solve cases in surrounding counties.
Property crimes, like major thefts of copper and machinery, are among of the most common crimes Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama sees in Shelby County.
Right now, they want to put a greater focus on stopping these incidents.
“Both the 65 and 280 corridor, there’s quite a bit of organized retail theft where gangs go in and they steal a bunch of stuff all at once,” said Crime Stoppers Executive Director Bob Copus.
