BOZEMAN — The Montana football team’s press conference Monday ended with a question about the new transfer portal window for the FBS and FCS.

“Thank God,” UM head coach Bobby Hauck said mid-question at the mention of the change the NCAA enacted last week .

Hauck isn’t the only person who welcomes the updated window, which will be open from Jan. 2-16 for all players (including graduate transfers, who previously could enter the portal before the window began). There were previously two portal periods during the school year, and the first one began nearly a month earlier.
