MEMPHIS, Tenn. - One man is dead and another man was injured after a shooting in South Memphis on Monday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to a shooting in the 2100 block of South Third Street around 3:00 p.m.

A man was taken to the hospital in critical condition but later died due to his injuries. Another man that was involved in the incident was taken to the hospital in a private car with an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police reported that preliminary information said that the two men knew each other.
