IVA, S.C. —

The fire chief in Iva, South Carolina, was airlifted after being struck by a vehicle on Monday.

The Iva Fire Department said Fire Chief Curt Brickle was hit by a vehicle while on the job Monday morning.

Curt's wife, Jennifer Brickle, said that Curt was airlifted to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

According to Jennifer, internal bleeding in Curt's chest near his ribs has been fixed. Curt also has a procedure scheduled for Tuesday to stabilize fractures in his ribs.

Jennifer is asking that people pray for relief and a successful procedure.
