MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) -- A campaign aiming to prevent suicide among U.S. veterans is expanding.

The "You Are Bigger Than This Moment" yard sign campaign launched at American Village on Monday. Yard signs with that message will be available at 70 Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs locations and American Village.

State Rep. Kenneth Paschal, R-Pelham, said it is an expansion of a recent billboard campaign.

"About four months ago, a veteran contacted me and shared he was traveling to Birmingham, and we have a lot of veterans that suffer each and every day," Paschal said. "They shared at the time they were not thinking about taking their life. But he was having a moment, and he saw the billboard that said, 'You Are Bigger Than This Moment.'"
