LINCOLN, Ala. (WIAT) -- Race week is underway at the Talladega Superspeedway.
The three-day fall racing event, which kicks off Friday, is expected to draw 150,000 fans, Talladega Superspeedway President Brian Crichton said.
He said 72% of the fans come from outside of the state for 'Dega week. CBS 42 talked with campers Monday night who arrived from a number of states, including Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and North Carolina.
“The party starts on Monday, and it ends on Sunday night,” said Lee Smith, a Winston-Salem, North Carolina, resident who said he has been coming to Talladega off and on for about 20 years.
The 70-year-old, who arrived in the North Park Campground with his girlfriend Monday evening, appears to have race week down to a science. From setting up solar panels
