The Dodgers hit into one of the most bizarre plays I’ve ever seen in baseball, let alone postseason baseball, in Game 1 of the NLCS. Batting with the bases loaded Max Muncy drove a ball that hit off the center field wall.
It was a double play. Really.
Sal Frelick in center field initially got his glove on the ball, but it bounced out and hit the top of the wall, and then back into his glove. At first glance, it might have looked like an incredible catch, and judging by the Dodgers baserunning, they thought as much.
