SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Police now have in custody a convicted felon who reportedly went to “extraordinary lengths” to avoid being caught Sunday, Oct. 12, putting the lives of officers and members of the public in danger, the Shreveport Police Department says.

On Sunday just before 8 p.m., officers tried to pull over a car being driven by Marvaeya Anderson. Rather than stop, police say Anderson chose to drive off.

During the chase, police say Anderson rammed an SPD unit while trying to get away. He later bailed out of his car and ran away before barricading himself inside an abandoned building on Pro Street, police say.

Officers established a perimeter at the abandoned house and were eventually able to arrest Anderson.
