In the last day, I have read two stories which underscore the cruelty and absurdity of our current moment.

Yesterday, I learned that in the midst of a government shutdown, our federal government has purchased $20 billion in Argentine pesos to prop up the currency of a failing dictator. Javier Milei and his anarcho-capitalist cronies will receive $20 billion in American taxpayer money to forestall the inevitable collapse of this flailing libertarian social experiment.

Today, I woke up to read of yet another Western hospital closing its labor and delivery services to young families. Missoula, Montana, will join Montrose, Colorado, in an ever-expanding list of small American cities and towns losing OB-GYN specialty care.
