KILLEEN, Texas — As the federal government shutdown stretches into its second week, President Donald Trump says military members will still receive their paychecks despite stalled negotiations in Washington.
In a post on Truth Social , Trump said he’s directing Defense Department officials to “use all available funds” to pay troops on Oct. 15. “We have identified funds to do this,” Trump wrote, adding that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will ensure payments go out on time.
While the White House works to deliver those funds, local organizations are stepping up to support those already feeling the pinch — including soldiers and federal workers in Central Texas.
