LAKE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A truck driver is dead after a crash on I-80/94 on Monday afternoon in Lake Station.

According to Indiana State police the crash happened at 4:00 p.m. just one mile east of the I-65 interchange on I-80/94 at the 13-mile marker.

Troopers say they found a gravel truck had struck the median wall that overturned the trailer and spilled gravel across all lanes of the westbound interstate.

According to the preliminary report the truck was traveling eastbound in the right lane when it drove to the left and directly into a median wall and an overhead signpost.

After the truck crashed it had become engulfed in flames, trapping the driver inside of the cab.

Troopers say the trailer also went over the wall and into the westbound lanes.
