KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- New and improved highway markers will be unveiled Wednesday in a state park in Athol as part of a state-wide project to refresh signage across Idaho.

On October 15, the Idaho State Historical Society, Idaho Transportation Department and Visit Idaho will introduce the first of the new Historic Highway Markers of Idaho at Farragut State Park in Athol.

The new installation is part of a multi-year push to refresh markers across the state with updated historical research and new designs.

The updated signage will also include QR codes that travelers can scan with their mobile phones to access interactive web-based information and translate signs into nine different languages.
