CINCINNATI —

The first step of a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas has been signed, leading to the release of hostages and the end of the war in Gaza.

President Donald Trump left Egypt on Monday after signing the deal, which marks the end of a conflict that began two years ago when Hamas attacked a festival in Israel, resulting in 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages taken. Advertisement

All 20 surviving hostages have been released, and since the war started, 67,000 people have been killed in Israel's retaliation on Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement has sparked celebrations worldwide, including in Cincinnati, where people are relieved that hostages and military personnel are returning home and the shooting has stopped.
