RUTLEDGE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Grainger County Commission has taken a significant step towards providing clean water to the community of Thorn Hill by voting unanimously to apply for a Community Development Block Grant with a 16% match.
Thorn Hill primarily relies on wells for water, as most residents do not have access to city water. The grant application aims to address this issue by securing funding to bring drinkable water to the area through the Sneedville Utility District.
The project is spearheaded by Grainger County Commissioner and Thorn Hill resident Jennifer Holt and Jimmy Langley, the retired general manager of the Luttrell-Blaine-Corryton Utility District.
