The brightest light for the Blue Jays in their Thanksgiving blowout loss was someone who ordinarily would not have been in the lineup.

Outfielder Nathan Lukes left Sunday’s AL championship series opener against the Seattle Mariners after three innings, having fouled a ball off his right knee in the first.

“My knee just kept on buckling,” Lukes said after Monday’s 10-3 defeat in Game 2 at the Rogers Centre. “I wasn’t able to stop. Really hurt to run.”

After X-rays and a CT scan showed no fracture, Lukes was back in his customary second spot in the order and went 3-for-4 with RBI singles in the first and second innings.
