Prosecutors have told the ACT Supreme Court the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Canberra child care centre by a former director was an "egregious breach of trust," and called for the woman to be jailed.

The comments came during sentencing for former Weston Creek Children's Centre director Emma Louise Morton, 51, for defrauding the non-profit organisation of $305,785.36.

She pleaded guilty to three rolled up counts, which took in a series of frauds from March 2020 to February 2021.

Each of the counts included multiple offences.
