Virgin Australia will introduce tighter carry-on baggage limits for economy passengers next year as part of a major move to make boarding faster and flights more efficient.
From February 2, travellers flying economy will be permitted to bring one cabin bag weighing up to eight kilograms, along with a small personal item such as a handbag or laptop.
The airline currently allows two carry-on bags with a combined weight of up to seven kilograms, in addition to a personal item.
The update quietly appeared on Virgin’s website this week.
Virgin Australia’s chief operations officer Chris Snook said the decision came after feedback from both staff and customers.
