Robert Horry is widely recognized as one of the most clutch performers in NBA history. Although he doesn’t believe that championship rings alone define success, Horry himself won seven NBA titles throughout his career.
Among those achievements, three championships came with the Los Angeles Lakers. However, Horry’s path to joining the Lakers wasn’t exactly smooth. During an appearance on Byron Scott’s Fast Break, he recalled a memorable moment when then-Suns head coach Danny Ainge decided to send him to Los Angeles.
“I get suspended for two games. And then Danny Ainge called me after the submission. Hey, I just want to let you know, I probably just want you to know the championship. I’m like, why? He says, because I just traded you to the Lakers,” Horry said.
“I hung up the phone in my c
