Julia Roberts returns to the year-end awards race with a pivotal role in Friday’s sexually-charged drama “After the Hunt.”

A philosophy professor at Yale University, Roberts’ Alma Imhoff mentors a student (Boston’s Ayo Edebiri of “The Bear”) who accuses Andrew Garfield’s philosophy professor – a close colleague of Alma’s – of sexual assault.
