CANANADIGUA, NY — A consultant studying fire service in the city of Canandaigua is recommending the city hire several additional firefighters over a three- to 10-year period and encourages city officials to discuss regional and shared service collaborations and the possible formation of a regional fire service.

The recommendations are among many aimed at improving the delivery of fire services as outlined in a preliminary 200-plus-page report. Recommendations, including those for emergency medical services, were presented at Canandaigua City Council’s finance committee meeting Oct. 6.
