One person died Monday night in a fiery crash in Clarkson, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred just after 11 p.m. on Lake Road, near Gilmore Road on Monday, Oct. 13, said Sgt. Stephen Murphy of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. Deputies said it appeared that the vehicle left the roadway and crashed before it came to rest in a yard and caught on fire.

The driver was alone in the vehicle and died as a result of the crash, Murphy said.

A stretch of Lake Road was closed but reopened early on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

No further details were released. Deputies continue to investigate the fatal crash.
