BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — Last week on Ag & Energy, KX News reported on the harvest this fall, as well as a major defense bill that moved closer to the president's desk. Here is a recap of those stories:

A warm start to October is doing favors for many farmers in North Dakota, but state ag commissioner Doug Goehring says the corn isn't quite ready just yet. Goehring says most farmers have wrapped up harvesting small grains, including wheat, barley and oats. He says many farmers aren't ready to start on sunflowers and corn just yet.

For wheat, he says while not a record year for many farmers, the statewide average is around 52 bushels per acre for spring wheat, which is above the long-term average.
