The joint statement issued after the London meeting between Muhammad Yunus, the head of the interim arrangement in Bangladesh, and BNP leader Tarique Rahman, declared that Bangladesh would hold a general election before the start of Ramzan fasting in the second week of February. Even now, the interim arrangement in place states the same thing regarding the election date.

There is a disagreement over the election method though.
