Morrisons has closed more than 50 cafes across the country this year as part of a restructuring programme.

The move, part of the supermarket giant’s ‘programme of renewal’, signals another blow to the British high street.

Morrisons announced in March it would close 52 cafes in addition to all 18 Market Kitchens, 17 Convenience stores, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies.

The closures aim to ‘accelerate growth’, ‘optimise operations’ and ‘help mitigate recent significant cost increases’.
