A Lanarkshire gangster's wife has been banned from commercially breeding dogs following an intervention by animal welfare watchdogs.

Lynne Brockett was refused a breeder license after representations by the Scottish SPCA found her and her drug dealer husband Scott Bennett unfit to deal in puppies

The charity was alerted after being told by South Lanarkshire Council they were set to renew an existing licence – despite both being convicted of illegal procedures on dogs, the Record reports .

The ban on Brockett, 40, comes after the pair built an industrial-scale kennels block, which was granted retrospective planning permission despite complaints from locals Chapelton, near Strathaven
