Gallatin and Madison County commissioners gathered on Oct. 8 at the Wilson Hotel in Big Sky for a joint meeting on a range of issues that affect the resort community straddling the two counties — from ongoing local county government review commissions to zoning reform.

Members of the Big Sky Resort Area District, local officials and residents attended the biannual meeting for a unique insight into how the two counties plan for growth and governance.

Both counties are in the midst of separate, state-mandated local government reviews voters approved last year. The process is allowed every 10 years, but Gallatin County hasn’t had one since 1996, when voters turned down the review commission’s recommendations.
