OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- The Opelousas Police Department is investigating a homicide on Hashim Street, which has left neighborhood residents shocked.

Residents Dave Smith and Don Deblanc tell News 10 this has never happened before in the neighborhood.

"This is the southside of town, things happen everywhere, but this is the southside, you don't see stuff like that in certain areas," said Smith.

Deblanc tells News 10 he heard multiple gunshots Sunday afternoon.

"Eight shots, or six, it was more than one I know that," Deblanc said. "The sad thing is one o'clock in the afternoon on a Sunday in broad daylight. It's pretty brazen to do something crazy like that."
