FLORENCE, S.C. – A Mind That Matters, a nonprofit organization, hosted a candlelight vigil last month in recognition of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

Attendees lit candles and stood together to remember those lost from suicide.

The organization also shared tips and resources on prevention and mental health to show attendees how to help members of their communities, according to a press release.

A Mind That Matters connects individuals with affordable and accessible mental health resources.

Florence Mayor Lethonia Barnes signed and presented an official Suicide Prevention Proclamation which was read aloud at the event.

Dr. Farrah Hughes of HopeHealth spoke at the event about the importance of having conversations about mental health.
